Maximum Takeoff Weight: 1,670 Pounds.

Lamar Municipal (LAA). Lamar, CO.
Elevation: 3,704 Feet
Temperature: 37.2C/99F
Pressure Altitude: 3,700 Feet
Density Altitude: 6,991 Feet

The following conditions are the basis for data:

1) Flaps - - 10 DEGREES
2) Throttle - - FULL PRIOR TO BRAKE RELEASE
3) Runway - - PAVED, LEVEL, & DRY
4) Field ELEV > 3,000 Feet - - MIXTURE LEANED (see POH)
5) Wind - - ZERO

Starting at zero, you used 1,221 feet to achieve liftoff velocity. After liftoff you displaced an additional distance of 298 feet (total distance 1,519 feet) to acquire 60 feet AGL. This represents an average 402 ft/min climb rate. Less partial pressure to inflate your lungs with oxygen, reduced oxygen capacity for fuel combustion (that is why we must lean the mixture). We cannot forget the pilot! Above 5,000 feet visual deficits begin (especially at night). If you are a smoker, your physiological altitude may be higher than your density altitude! The FAA is absolutely correct to assign density altitude as an "all encompassing" performance consideration (the airplane & pilot).
