Mr. Ted Koppel. THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF RUNWAYDATA.COM OR ANY PRODUCT PRESENTED ON THIS WEBSITE. LIKEWISE, THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF MY BOOK. With his wish for "good luck," we are all fortunate to have his insight and wisdom through the Discovery Channel Networks of TLC, Animal Planet & The Science Channel. Mr. Koppel provides relevant information about our world, for which he cares so much.
In 1978, just before the Iranian Hostage Crisis, I was in Tehran as a US Air Force Reserve Starlifter (C-141) crewmember assisting in humanitarian evacuation. Countless individuals are reliant on Mr. Koppel's reporting on environmental, technological & human affairs. His understanding of diverse attitudes and cultures help each of us to contemplate & understand the collective responsibility for each of us to strive for a better society.
Finally, please understand my rationale for not showing Mr. Koppel's signature in its entirety. First of all, his signature belongs to him, and we should respect his right to privacy. I present his name (not full signature) as a way to emphasize to runwaydata.com visitors of an interesting world well beyond the scope of this aviation safety website. Thank you Mr. Koppel for what you do for people, around every geographic corner of our planet.

An ISA Plus 20C condition means 35C/95F at sea level. At 8,000 feet, the ISA + 20C temperature is 19C/66F. We have analyzed the FAA's premise that density altitude is "all encompassing." Distance and time are safety factors we reveal through qualitative explanations and quantitative predictions. The pilot-in-command is expected to be in "control." The use of a digital clock/chronometer is another way to verify your performance predictions. We hope you enjoyed this Cessna 152 journey. With planning and preparation, the Cessna 152 can perform the mission. Safety information (and practices) tend to pay for itself "over time." Our data formats require tables, charts, and graphs to imply temperature and express air density. Thank you for visiting runwaydata.com. The home of interpreted data, otherwise known as "other reliable information!"

Michael L. Barr is the former Director of the USC Aviation Safety Program and is still a presenter. Given the uncertainty of world affairs, USC has evolved. It is now the "Safety & Security" program. I completed the USC Accident/Incident Response Preparedness Course while it was a "safety program."
Now under the authority of Mr. Thomas Anthony, as director; there is added emphasis on aviation security. In many cultures, safety & security are embedded into one word! For example, "seguridad, sicherheit & surete." Logically, how can you have one without the other?
USC Viterbi School of Engineering (LAX).
The program has outstanding instructors to teach the essentials of air safety. Dr. Allan J. Parmet, MD MPH (A professor I had in Missouri) & Tim Shaw, MS (an instructor I had in Michigan) & Mr. Jack Veth, Esq., a practicing aviation attorney (F-4 Phantom II & SR-71 Commander) are just a few names, but each presenter is worth their weight in gold! The diverse student group also contributes to this form of active & experiential learning.
